GR.ENE.CO study visits to Sardinia continuing with the guided tour of the AGRIFERA farm of the FERA srl in Decimoputzu (CA). The farm biogas plant (1MW) powered in 2013 produce about 8.000 MWh per year thanks to the biogas combustion from an anaerobic fermentation process of the biomasses. The energy produced is both enhanced by AGRIFERA farm and give it to the grid.
The Egyptian and Lebanese delegations has thus visited the Sotacarbo pilot platform in Carbonia (CI), built in 2008 within the COHYGEN (coal to hydrogen generation) research project, in cooperation with ENEA (the Italian national agency for new technologies, energy and environment), ANSALDO Ricerche and the University of Cagliari (Department of Mechanical Engineering). The platform includes two independent gasification plants a demonstration unit and a pilot unit, both based on the fixed-bed up-draft gasification technology.
